Event description
Twenty tables, a hundred and fifty students and eight minutes a table. It is the most useful hour the sixth form gets all year and it depends entirely on alumni turning up.
There are no talks and no panel. Students move between tables in small groups and ask whatever they like, which in practice means the same four questions of everybody: what do you actually do all day, how did you get there, what do you earn, and what would you do differently. Answer honestly and you will have done the job.
Your subject matters less than you would think. The students who get most out of the evening are the ones who do not yet know what they want, and they get it from hearing about a job they had never heard of. Food from six, parking on the field.
