The 1000 Club is the simplest thing the Friends do. A pound a month, a thousand members, and half of it goes back out as monthly prizes while the other half buys something the school could not otherwise have. It has been running since 2009.

This year it bought a minibus. Not a new one - a three-year-old seventeen-seater with a tow bar - but it means the netball squad, the field trips and the Duke of Edinburgh groups are no longer choosing between going and affording to go. In previous years it has paid for the practice room pianos, the food technology rooms and the LRC furniture.

Membership is open to anyone, not only current parents, and a good number of members are alumni who left decades ago. Joining takes two minutes on the Friends page.
