The senior netball squad beat Bishop Wordsworth's and then Godolphin in the county round and are through to the regionals for the first time since 2011. The regional finals are in Exeter in March.

The squad is young - four of the seven are in the lower sixth and one is in year eleven - which is either a problem or an investment depending on which member of staff you ask. Miss Hardy, who took over the squad in September, says the difference this season has been defence and a willingness to play the long game rather than the quick one.

The Friends of SWGS are funding the coach to Exeter, which is the sort of thing the Friends exist for and the sort of thing the school budget does not stretch to. Photographs from the county round are in the sport gallery, and the alumnae match in May is open for booking.
